Welcome to the Millington High School 2007-2008 Student Launch Initiative Team website!

Student Launch Initiative (SLI) is a rocket and payload-building challenge designed for high schools students.

It is hosted by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Team members must design, build, and test reusable rockets with a scientific payload. We aim at reaching one

mile in the sky and hopefully our rocket will return safely to the earth with scientific information collected around the apogee of the rocket flight.

Mission Statement:
We of the Millington SLI club will fly a high-powered rocket to an altitude of one mile and measure the  atmospheric mercury level differences between Michigan and Alabama at apogee.

This is Millington's first year participating in SLI. In previous years, we have always taken part in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) Program. Just last year, our TARC team placed third in the nation. A school can only join the SLI program if their team places within the top 25 in the nation in the TARC program. Last year was not the first year that we placed in the top 25, but it this is the first year we have decided to give SLI a shot. We will use our established rocket building skills to succeed in the SLI program as well.

Our Rocketry Team is led by Mark Ratza, the Millington High School physics teacher. Our Team Leaders are Christine Pashby and Robert Hasselbeck.
