Elementary

   1. Equation Match - Algebraic and Analytical Thinking (V.2.E.1&4)
      This is an interactive site for students to solve algebraic problems. Students can select from three levels in determining the value of x. A tip and help section is provided. Join Hypatia and Pythagoras, the ancient hosts, in solving these problems.
   2. Fun School - Great Equations - Algebraic and Analytical Thinking (V.2.E.1)
      The game entitled "Great Equations" found in the 3rd/4th grade section allows the students to solve open ended equations by dragging numbers into the correct place in the equation.
   3. Kids Math SyvumBook Level II - Algebraic and Analytical Thinking (V.2.E.1&4)
      This is an interactive site for 4th grade and up students to solve algebraic problems. Students solve algebraic equations by finding the value of x and can then submit their answer for scoring. Results can be emailed to the teacher.

      This is an interactive site for students to solve algebraic problems. Students can select from three levels in determining the value of x. Help deliver the mail to the correct place.

      This is an interactive site for students to manipulate objects for balance. The site uses a balance scale to represent algebraic concepts.
   2. Snake Patterns - Algebraic and Analytical Thinking (V.2.E.2)
      Students use given rules to generate several stages of a pattern and predict the outcome for any stage. The teacher guides students through a discussion to probe their understanding of the patterns and introduce symbolic representation.  Grade level 3-5 will be able to download the activity sheet and complete the project.
   3. Solving Equations With Alge-Tiles - Algebraic and Analytical Thinking (V.2.E.2)
      This site gives ideas about teaching beginning algebra using tiles. Even though the site may be trying to sell tiles, it appears any classroom tiles may be used. This site is not interactive for students, but will give teachers some interesting teaching ideas.

      This site provides explanation on solving equations on a variety of levels. After the explanations, the students can test their knowledge with a couple of different games.

      Students must find matching pairs by solving for the variables in each equation.  The game has three levels of difficulty.

   1. Aunty Math -- Fun Math Challenges for Kids - Algebraic and Analytical Thinking (V.2.E.4)
      Aunty Math presents a new math challenge to the Internet audience every other week. Each challenge is presented in the form of a story taken form the life of Aunty Math, her two nephews, and her neice. These challenge problems present an opportunity for students in grades K-3 to use their math and thinking skills to solve various problems. Past challenges are also available, and the students can send their solutions back to Aunty Math on her web page.

   5. Math Teaser Challenge - Algebraic and Analytical Thinking (V.2.E.4)
      This site has a "Problem of the Month" which is a multi-step word problem. A detailed solution is given to assist with the methodology used to solve the given problem. The site also contains a link to archives of past "Problems of the Month" as well as a link to student interactive questions in Science (grade 4) and problem solving in Math (grade 4). This tool may be utilized as an enrichment exercise.
